Claudio Danuser’s overall interest in music and its historical context led him to study musicology and music education (‘School Music II’) at the University of Berne. During his research in the Ricordi archives in Milan he came into contact with Prof. Harry Powers from Princeton University, who invited him to study at Princeton.

However, Danuser decided against further studies in musicology in favour of a career as a performer. He nevertheless remained active as a practically oriented musician, working as a journalist, author, critic and music mediator.

Since 1990 Danuser has been the project manager of the CD label Musiques Suisses of the Migros-Kulturprozent, which specializes in Swiss music. After the tranfer of the label to Naxos in 2019, he became Swiss representative of the label.

Since 2020 he has been artistic director of the opera festival Opera Engiadina.
